Are You A Musician Or Artist Trying To Find Your Own Ticket-Buying Audience?
Keep reading to see how you can set it all up for free.
Are you licking your wounds from the last project which didn't quite have the turnout you hoped for?
Fear no more. And plan with confidence.
This is CEG’s free (and invitation-only) page for emerging professional artists.
Digital direct response marketing is somehow still an untapped advantage for most artists and arts organizations. CEG is leading the charge with updated methods that bring results (backed up with the hard data of ticket purchases) with some of the biggest presenters and organizations in North America.
But declining audiences are a reality for many. And we believe improving the market starts with YOU.
So we hope to empower you with a very specific instructional guide that reflects some of the most powerful insights we have garnered in our research and on-the-ground work.
Keep reading to find out how to create a sales funnel for your next project, whether it’s an exhibition, performance, or shipped product.
Throughout this guide, we will suggest one option (the one that CEG has found through research and trial-and-error to be the balance of the simplest installation and most effective in performance). We don’t present a dozen options as CEG believes the value in a guide is save you the time of having to research and choose between services and platforms. We have no affiliation with any of the services we recommend nor do we gain any commission.
Here’s what you need to know:
A sales funnel starts with building awareness for your offering, whether it’s a product or an event. Facebook advertisements and Google ads are popular and help garner interest and direct traffic to your webpage.
But webpages are usually loaded with many different tasks: At any given time, your website may be juggling the needs to many visitors. Some are looking only for a specific event time. Some might only be interested in finding an email. Others might be trying to look for general information. Some might be simply curious about all of our offerings in a glance (window shopping).
But when you want the surest chance of a purchase, a sales funnel helps identify the audiences most likely to be interested and most likely to buy a specific offering. Your ads would be geared specifically towards this purchase: And these visitors need to visit a webpage that takes that momentum and towards the most frictionless process to optimize a purchase.
Most artists and arts organization don’t do this part right. So that’s why CEG is here to help.
CEG’s guide will help you set up the landing page to ensure the best chance of your visitors getting tot he checkout and paying.
You will need to have a domain and webhost. This guide is for emerging artists, but we expect that you have a domain and website. Plenty of guides online can help you with this relatively simple setup. We recommend Bluehost because of its integration with WordPress. We strongly recommend WordPress for those of you who are new to web developing, not because of the ease but also because of the tracking integrations you will need when using social media ads. (The tracking is covered in this guide.)
The checkout itself (where customers enter their information) is one of the most important aspects of the sales funnel. We recommend a specific software platform for this, but the free version on WooCommerce works as well. WooCommerce’s checkout is not as customizable and does not allow for order bumps and upsells (think of the chocolate bars by the cashier which are so effective for impulse buys).
Assuming you have your own domain and webhost already, this setup is basically free — though most of the platforms recommended here are free, we recommend spending for one paid tier on one of the platforms and to upgrade your checkout to a recommended platform. But this is not essential.
CEG is here to help as we can. If you are an academic instructor, reach out to see how one of our team members might be available to present a workshop to your class. If you are an emerging artist, reach out to see how we might be able to help.
This page presents a strong case for the product, consolidating testimonials, product images, videos, and a guarantee section to provide users with comprehensive information essential for conversion.
Click below to discover step-by-step instruction (sometimes with animated examples for clarity). Kickstart your journey to successful launches and recurring events — and let us know what you think! Good luck!
